The 8th IMIC is the series of Micro Irrigation Congress that organize by ICID. The first congress was held 40 years ago in 1971. The second congress held in San Diego California (1974), and then Fresno California (1985), Aubury-Wodonga Australia (1988), Orlando Florida (1995), Cape Town South Africa (2000), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2006), and after 4 decade the 8th IMIC will be held from 15 to 23 October 2011 in Tehran, Iran.
The theme of the 8th International Micro Irrigation Congress is Innovation in Technology and Management of Micro-irrigation for crop Production Enhancement. The stage is set in Tehran to familiarize everybody with the wide usage of micro irrigation, related benefits and new innovation, to disseminate new research findings and to share experiences in the adoption of micro irrigation technologies from all over the world. The main objectives of IMIC congress are:
To share experiences in the use of new technologies and best management practices in drip, micro-sprinkler, and other localized irrigation systems.
To review the status of use of micro irrigation for smallholders.
To understand socio-economic and technological factors impeding expansion of drip and micro-sprinkler irrigation area.
